Lavender Field Workshop

Imagine yourself on a warm summer’s evening surrounded by fragrant, colorful, lavender flowers. Add a camera to that scenario and you are with Pixels on a workshop! Come join us as we travel to Mona UT, to the Young Family Living Farm to photograph acres of lavender flowers that stretch beyond the eye.

As a part of this workshop, we will provide instruction in our classroom at Pixels, which will be led by Wayne Fox, on Wednesday, June 27th from 7-8 pm. Wayne will cover technique and equipment so that when you are in the field you have ideas on how you to successfully capture and make photographs that are your own. While at the lavender fields, there will be additional guidance from Pixels’ staff. We will have some lenses available for you to borrow (Canon and Nikon). This workshop will be relaxed and informal and for all levels of photographers.

The dates are Tuesday, July 10th, and Thursday, July 12th. Stop by or call Pixels at 801 233 9090. The cost for the workshop is $49 and payment is required to register. Space is limited by the number of seats in the van. Deadline for registration is June 27th. Participants will receive a free print (up to 20 x 30) on metallic paper of an image taken during the workshop and receive a 20% discount on framing of that image.

We will at meet at Pixels (8934 S State Street in Sandy) at 4:20 pm, load the van, sign waivers and leave promptly at 4:30. Arrival at the fields is planned while the Visitor Center is open. We will return to Pixels around 10:00 pm. Inclement weather will not cancel the trip unless there is a danger to the participants. Sometimes the best photos are made during bad weather!

Suggestions for items to bring:
A camera, preferably one with manual settings and interchangeable lenses. Most shooting opportunities will be best captured with wide or telephoto lenses. This is a wonderful place for macro lenses. Plan on carrying your gear in a comfortable bag.
Sturdy tripod for long exposures.
Filters; including graduated neutral density and polarizers.
Cable release.
Fully charged battery and a spare.
Plenty of storage on your memory cards.
Proper attire- sturdy shoes or boots because the ground may be soft or muddy. We will be walking some, but not strenuously. Wear appropriate clothing for the variable Utah climate (bug repellent, sun protection, rain clothing, light jacket).

Pixels will provide transportation, admission fees, instruction, water and lenses from our rental pool. Please do not over pack as we will be riding together in a van.
