Pocket Wizard & Remote Flash Photography

Unravel the mysteries of remote flash photography. Doug Pizac knows how to make remote flash photography work. Besides using multiple PocketWizards on a regular basis, his qualifications say it all. During college he interned for 4 years with National Geographic. The day after leaving college Doug became the team photographer for the California Angels. After shooting for 2 newspapers, Doug landed a 30-year career as a staff photographer for the Associated Press. While at AP Doug covered both Summer and Winter Olympics, Super Bowls and World Series. From Hollywood celebrities to presidential coverage, Doug has done it. He now freelances for major news agencies/newpapers/magazines, and teaches collage level photography classes. A Class with Clarity!

Ryan Avery from Schneider Optics and B+W filters will shed some light on filters. Neutral density, graduated ND, special effect filters, polarizers, UV, sky, you name it. If it has to do with filters, this is your chance to learn. Why do some filters cost more money than other? Should I always have a UV filter on my lens? How does a polarizer work? Shooting in Utah

Within in a couple of hours drive we have some of the most photographic and scenic landscapes in the world. People travel from all over to get a glimpse of what is virtually right in our back yard. Mylo Fowler was born on the Navajo Nation in Arizona. Staying in touch with his Native American heritage, Mylo has traveled throughout Utah and Arizona producing some stunning imagery. He has lugged his 4×5 camera all over the state in pursuit of Utah’s beauty. Mylo leads photo excursions and will be taking Pixels back to southern Utah for some great slot canyon photography. Mylo has shot for National Geographic, Outdoor Photography Magazine, Weekend Explorer, The Discovery Channel, Arizona Office of Tourism, Utah Office of Tourism and The Weather Channel. From monitor calibration to printer profiling, Ray will demistify the necessary concepts so you can get the most out of your images. Terms like gamma, ICC profiles, color space, light temperature will all be discussed. If you looking to get consistant, reliable results with your images, then don’t miss this session. Travel Photography Tips

This class will cover everything travel related – where to go, how to get there with your gear, what gear should I take, day trip equipment, how to approach a subject, airline regulations and more. Ray Taggart has lots of great travel advice. Ray’s photography has taken him to Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, 3 separate polar bears trips, Korea, Thailand, Nepal, 5 trips to Africa, 2 times to Turkey, 3 times to China, Italy, Ireland, Spain, England, and a few other places. Needless to say Ray has learned how to travel with photo gear, and what to do with it when you get there. This should be a lively class with plenty of interaction and great discussion.
